Caution urged over drifting goods from capsized boat 1 hour ago

Authorities have issued a public warning urging caution after goods from a capsized boat were reported drifting in nearby waters and washing up along parts of the coastline.
Maritime officials said the vessel overturned due to adverse conditions, causing cargo to spill into the sea. While the exact nature and quantity of the goods are still being assessed, members of the public have been advised not to approach, collect or handle any items found floating at sea or stranded on shore.
“Some of the drifting goods may pose safety, environmental or legal risks,” officials said, adding that unverified cargo could include hazardous materials or damaged items unsuitable for use.
Coast guard and marine patrol units have been deployed to monitor the area, recover debris where possible, and ensure navigational safety for other vessels. Fishermen and boat operators have also been asked to remain vigilant and report sightings of floating cargo to the authorities.
Environmental agencies are assessing potential impacts on marine life, while an investigation into the cause of the capsizing is underway. Officials reiterated that taking possession of goods from maritime accidents is illegal and may result in penalties.
The public has been encouraged to follow official updates and report any relevant information through designated emergency or maritime hotlines as recovery efforts continue.
